It's always exciting when we receive a proof from the printer. This one's for a new cycle map for the newly-merged councils of Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole. Covering quite a large area, the sheet measures 792 x 630mm and folds neatly to DL size (or 99 x 210mm). The main mapping is at a scale of 1:19,000, while three town centre insets are at 1:8,000 and show the central urban areas in much greater detail. A handy overview map on the back cover shows the coverage. BCP Council already had a brand identity established for the mapping, and we had to implement the look, fonts and colours into our cartography and design.
Packed with useful detail and data for the cyclist, it also features all the newly-installed Beryl Bike share docking bays. Beryl Bikes are a bike hire scheme managed via a smartphone app, and the docking bays are to be found at convenient locations dotted around Bournemouth and Poole, with plans to expand into Christchurch in the very near future. Print-run is 30,000 copies and delivery will be in good time for the Beryl Bikes' official launch date of the 17th May.
